The use of low and zero hours contracts should not be used as a means of avoiding payment of company taxes such as national insurance. We oppose the use of low hours contracts where workers are regularly employed for more than their contract hours.

The Alliance wishes to ensure that the UK continues to respect the UN Convention on Human Rights and that the rights of individuals to freedom of speech and freedom of association are respected by the government.

The Alliance believes that our housing market is best served by a mix of owner occupation and social housing. The Alliance opposes the compulsory sale of council and housing association properties at less than their market value.

Companies with employees in the UK benefit from a well educated and healthy workforce. They must pay their share of the cost of these services and not divert their profits overseas. We will conduct a campaign to use consumer power to persuade them to pay tax proportional to the number of people they employ in the UK.

Workers deserve a fair days pay for a fair days work. Implementing the living wage means that low paying employers will not be subsidised by the welfare system paying  tax credits and housing benefits to low paid workers.

Assessments for welfare resulting in the withdrawal of disability and housing benefit are affecting the most vulnerable in our society and resulting in  higher levels of suicide and the severely malnourished  becoming a burden on the NHS. Welfare reform must be based on rewarding work but supporting those who cannot, through no fault of their own, get work.
